The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the most ignored person in the Bible. He is a person not a something. Being aware and responsive of His presence requires a personal relationship with faith (trust), worship (praise), and gratitude for the role He plays in every aspect of our life. As part of the Triune, the Holy Spirit is a key part of knowing God for he is the administrator and comforter for man here on earth.

Knowing God through the Holy Spirit releases man from legalism (abiding to law of our carnal nature) to being released to serve the Lord through the Spirit (Prince, 2021). The greatest contribution of the Holy Spirit to our spiritual life is to make possible a united marriage union with the resurrected Christ.

In (King James Holy Bible, John 16:7-10), “It is expedient for you that I go away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. 8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 of sin, because they believe not on me; 10 of righteousness, because they believe not on me.”

The Spirit is omnipresent, requiring our dedicative, continual harmonious relationship of asking for his help (guidance), awareness of His presence, and fulfilling the Spirit with love, joy, peace, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance (Holy Bible King James, Galatians 22-23).

Being attuned to the activity of the Holy Spirit is expressed in Romans 8:14-16, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.”

The Holy Spirit is necessary for righteousness, judgment, and personal spiritual union with the Lord Jesus Christ. Aspects of the Holy spirit include:

  1. The Holy Spirit is a person when He the spirit of truth come.
  2. The personal representative of the Godhead on earth.
  3. The sole administrator of the Father and Son’s blessings.
  4. Everything He does glorifies Jesus.

In my youth, I was made aware of the Spirit during the San Fernando 6.5 magnitude earthquake of 1971. Witnessing Gods wrath and mercy as a toddler, I knew His protection was present. During life, I have developed a relationship with Him. Unfortunately, being (rebellious at times) while influenced by friends, family, education, work, etc., I operated on self-will during growth spurts, and believed the silent voice was Him but were illusionary (false) beliefs of my ego speaking to me (carnal knowledge).

The distinction I have discovered is to keep a calm mind, focus my intention on Him, and be still minded when listening for guidance, faith, and understanding. A trust has been developed and I find his voice more readily available in a state of humility, graciousness, and appreciation. I find His presence speaking through others if I am willing to listen and observe for the message. As Galatians 5:25 (King James Bible 1769/2020) says, ‘If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.’

Union is the answer in Spirit through worship to bear fruit. There is no one size fits all in experiencing the Holy Spirit, but he can be found with patience, humility, honesty, reverence, willingness-kindness. A personal mutual sensitivity (anointing) in a personal relationship of submission (Holy Spirit) as Lord is welcomed for union.
