Trinity; Why is this vital to the holistic understanding of scripture?
Scripture is the reason for Triune. According to (Qureshi, 2016), the word trinity comes from “tri” meaning three and “unity” meaning one. God is three distinct individuals – God the Father, the Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit – in one true God. These Bible verses and Scriptures about the trinity give a better understanding is:
1. There is only one God (e.g., Rom. 3:30)
2. The Father is God (e.g., John 6:27)
3. Jesus is God (e.g., John 20:28; Rom. 9:5; 2 Peter 1:1)
4. The Holy Spirit is God (e.g., Acts 5:3–5)
5. These Three are distinct persons (e.g., John 14:16–17)
What is the connection that John is making to set our understanding up for the Messiah?
GOD named John “The Baptizer,” in Mark 1: 2-5 (KJV) to go before the Messiah and prepare His Way. John’s ministry was to make the path straight for repentance (forgiveness of sin). The Baptism paved the way for the (remission of sin into forgiveness) and for the Messiah to come. According to Prince (2020), “the hearts of GOD’s people need repentance, today. John was crucial link in dispensation of the law and the prophets, and dispensation of grace and the gospel which came for JESUS.”
